Program Notes

Finale for Orchestra demands a virtuosic performance from each musician, fully engaging every section of the orchestra. Following an introspective solo-clarinet opening, the orchestra builds toward the Allegro maestoso, where fanfares, flourishes, and eventually an ostinato figure, propel cascading brass to a resounding conclusion.

I excerpted this composition, originally the sixth and final movement of my Symphony No.3 in E Minor: Concert in Three Acts, and reduced its instrumentation to make it available to more ensembles and help it engage a wider audience.
