Program Notes

Overture for Orchestra begins with a contemplative introduction whose thematic and harmonic structures form the foundation of my third symphony. It features monumental brass figures punctuated by rapid string and woodwind flourishes propelling the orchestra forward to the conclusion.

I excerpted this composition, originally the opening movement of my Symphony No.3 in E Minor: Concert in Three Acts, and reduced its instrumentation to make it available to more ensembles and help it engage a wider audience.
